If so, this is a great device to have! You too can spend a hundred dollars, only to have it suddenly not work one night not even a year and a half later. The funny thing was, i did not use this thing nearly all that much. In fact, maybe once every two weeks.
Cavalry, i know one of you lovely people are reading this. I had music on here that is absolutely IRREPLACABLE. This is close to as horrible as when 300+ of my cds were stolen, and in many ways worse just because of what some of that music meant to me that is not on album, anywhere.
Thank you Cavalry, i hope your family all enjoy's spending that little money i have on your worthless prodcuts.
Do yourself a favor, read all these other reviews that are bad because the people did not just get it! Sure, the first month things like this are always fantastic. Wait until a year from now. Do NOT buy this product, you will regret it.

We use ours for DVR Expansion. It has increased our DVR hard drive space to 660 gigs; we never have to worry about running out of memory when recording HD programming.

The first one shipped to me lasted only several weeks. The replacement lasted two years (out of warranty). In both cases my data could not be recovered.

Smooth and easy install on my Vista-64 laptop and Vista desktop. Setting up folders and backup schedule (using Genie-Soft)to only minutes.
Only reason for 4 stars rather than 5 is the need to set up on each machine since it can not work off of a router or USB hub

After carefully reviewing all the different external drives by all the major hard-drive manufacturers, I'm extremely glad that I decided to go with the 500 GB Cavalry drive. What sold me on this one, as opposed to any of the others is that this drive offers eSATA connectivity option, which is a heck of a lot faster than USB. Not only did I want my important data backed up, but I also purchased a new Dell XPS system and wanted to get all my important files and data off of my old PC. And this awesome drive made it a snap! I first moved the data from my old PC onto the Cavalry drive using a USB connection, as there was no eSATA connection on my old system. Next I installed the eSATA cable (included in the drive kit) from the motherboard of my new Dell XPS system, which now provides a much faster file transfer speed over USB. It took me all of a minute to do this. And although I used the USB option to move the files onto the Cavalry drive, once I plugged the Cavalry drive into the eSATA jack on the new PC, Windows Vista immediately detected it. It was about the simplest hardware installation one could possibly imagine and it works superbly! I'm extremely glad that I went with this Cavalry eSATA drive, as opposed to the other offerings from all the main drive mfgs out there. Great produce, great price and a super user friendly piece of hardware. I can't think of a single negative thing to say about this excellent product. Do yourself a huge favor and skip the all the other external drives out there and get this one. I love mine!
